Heading into New Orleans we didn’t really know what to expect. We were meeting up with couchsurfers from all around the world…all of us experiencing Mardi Gras for the first time…the stage was set for just about anything to happen.
It’s hard to encapsulate in a couple of sentences the madness that is New Orleans at Mardi Gras. Thinking back on the five crazy days and nights we spent there, a few memories do come to mind…
Sitting in Lees Circle at night, drinking champagne from the bottle at the top of the monument while the parade wound on slowly down below us
The Cajun food and the music of washboard band, Chaz, on Frenchmen Street
Marching in full costume down Royal Street while crowds of people screamed and cheered all around us and beads rained down from above...I really felt like I had experienced the spirit of New Orleans. -Ryan
